Hurricane has Curragh Option

Hugely exciting novice hurdler, Hurricane Fly, has an entry for the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on May 24.

Willie Mullins' Montjeu gelding, who as forced to miss Cheltenham this year, owing to a setback, when at the top of the market for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, is among 31 possible contenders for the Group 1 event.

It was hoped last week that the ex-French performer and now George Creighton & Rose Boyd-owned star would be able to run at the Punchestown Festival, although Mullins admitted that his charge was making only "slow progress" from the splint problem he encountered last month.

The Curragh entry has been described by the master of Closutton as "purely speculative."
