INTRIGUING CONTEST FOR GREAT YORKSHIRE

Brother Of Iris will face 15 rivals in tomorrow's £40,000-added Pertemps Great Yorkshire Chase as he seeks to cement his claims for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Mary Reveley's progressive gelding, the strong ante-post favourite for tomorrow's race, is back in action for the first time since early December.

He was forced to miss an intended engagement at Ascot just before Christmas because of soreness in a joint.

With his regular jockey Peter Niven sidelined through injury Lorcan Wyer is in the saddle at Doncaster.

Reveley, twice a winner of the race, is also represented by Fullopep who is unbeaten in two races over fences.

Other notable runners include last year's winner Major Bell, trained in the Borders by Alistair Whillans.

Last year's winning jockey Adrian Maguire is this time associated with the West Country raider Village King.

Maguire is returning to action tomorrow after an absence of more than a week because of injury.

The lightly-weighted Noble Lord is not certain to take his chance in the three mile handicap. His trainer Richard Phillips announced that he will only run if there is overnight rain.
