Let's Go Mans was a real market plunge in the William Hill Challenge Series Handicap Hurdle and his backers were rewarded with a neck victory.

It was a three-way go for the line in the closing stages of this staying test as Mickey Hulie led in the centre from Let's Go Mans on his inner and Brown Boots on the outer.

Keith Donoghue, who was on his second winner of the day following on from Umpire's Call in the preceding race, conjured a finish from Let's Go Mans who got up close home by a neck at 4/1 backed down from 14s.

Mickey Hulie (6/1) had to settle for second and was half a length in front of hat-trick-seeking Brown Boots, the 11/10 favourite.

Troy Cullen, race-planner for Gavin Cromwell, said: “He had the run in the point-to-point the last day and he’s a real stayer.

“Keith gave him a great ride and being switched inside was probably the difference between winning and losing.

“He’s a work in progress, but hopefully he can progress from here and maybe he’ll win another one.

“We’ll get him back home and, if he’s sound, he’ll be out for something similar before too long. He’s lowly enough rated but hopefully he’ll be able to progress.”
