Imperial among 10 for Betfair Chase

Reigning Gold Cup hero Imperial Commander features among 10 confirmations for the Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday.

The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained nine-year-old came within a whisker of landing the Merseyside Grade One 12 months ago when edged out by Kauto Star in one of the most dramatic finishes of the entire season.

Although there will be no Kauto Star to deal with this time around, his trainer Paul Nicholls is still set to be represented after leaving in What A Friend, winner of Aintree's totesport Bowl in the spring.

Nacarat has already been seen to good effect this season having produced an impressive display to land the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby last month and he could go for his first Grade One win at the weekend.

Last season's Guinness Gold Cup winner Planet Of Sound could make his return for in-form trainer Philip Hobbs, while recent Ascot winner Massini's Maguire may take his chance for the David Pipe team.

Ryanair Chase hero Albertas Run, Jimmy Moffatt's stable star Chief Dan George, Atouchbetweenacara, Silver By Nature and Howard Johnson's mercurial talent Tidal Bay complete the possibles.
