In Salutem wins Shergar Cup Dash Thierry Jarnet steered In Salutem to an easy success in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Dash. Ken Condon's horse cruised through the five-furlong contest in the hands of Jarnet and he galloped clear for an easy two-length success from the running-on Line Of Reason, ridden by Kenichi Ikezoe. Out Do and Pierre-Charles Boudot finished third. Jarnet's win meant it was a good start for Team Europe, but the Rest Of The World team were dealt a double blow after finishing second as team captain Silvestre de Sousa fell off Union Rose after the winning line and was taken away in an ambulance. However, there was good news for de Sousa when he was cleared to ride in the next race. Willytheconqueror (Joe Fanning, Great Britain and Ireland) was fourth and Medicean Man (Frankie Dettori, Europe) was the last points scorer in fifth. Jarnet, speaking through a translator, said: "I'm very happy to be here and to win the first race is wonderful. "The horse was very good and he is easy to ride. I had a good race. "Ascot is a wonderful racecourse."
