Ina Mina scores on handicap debut Ina Mina (3/1 — 11/2) scored from a lowly rating of 82 on handicap hurdle-debut today, landing the opening division of Cork’s 2m1f 0-100 race for trainer Terence O’Brien and jockey John Shinnick. Previously successful just once from 20 attempts on the Flat when scoring by 15 lengths at Tramore last July, the daughter of Ulysees had been well beaten in four previous winter hurdles and today was having her first start since February. Today Ina Mina, running in the TerenceOBrien Racing Syndicate, made all the running and held on well to score by three lengths, from Syosset . Trainer O’Brien reported “judging by her Flat mark (of 73), she had a great chance as her maiden runs were on heavy ground last winter, and in fairness the handicapper gave her a chance. “She hadn’t been working particularly well at home so I was nervous enough, as she had been tipped up by some tipsters. If she’d been in good form, I’d have tipped her myself although I haven’t had a winner for two months, so you lose confidence. “In fairness to her previous trainer Michael Mulvany when he sold her, he said she’d definitely win over hurdles.”
