A smart handicapper on the Flat and, over hurdles, the Joseph O'Brien trained Intellotto made a winning start to his career over fences when easily landing the Summer Racing @ Limerick Racecourse Beginners Chase at Limerick.

Winner of a conditions hurdle at this track in March of last year, the five-year-old was sent off 8/11f to add a second success here.

Disputing the lead with Jigoro from flag fall, jockey J J Slevin sent his mount on after jumping three out.

Asserting early in the straight, the chasing debutant was smart over the final two fences, drawing clear for an easy 10 length victory.

Winning rider J J Slevin commented: “He was entered in Killarney the other day, but Joseph decided to wait and do a bit more schooling with him.

"He is a high-class hurdling horse, and it looks like he’s going to run to that level over fences. He could be an exciting novice for the summer, into the autumn.

"He’s a clever horse, with plenty of scope and size, and it was a nice first run over fences.”
