Inthenickoftime scores with late flourish J.P. McManus’ Flat homebred Inthenickoftime (9/2) gained a second course success at Galway today, arriving not a moment too soon in clinching the Anglo Printers Handicap Hurdle, for trainer Enda Bolger and jockey Simon Torrens. By Gleneagles and out of an all-weather-winning mare, the grey gelding raced behind the leaders on the inside and while he appeared held in third place after jumping the final flight, flew home to score by a half-length from Mart Lane . Inthenickoftime had previously scored over fences at the Connaught course last October and today Bolger, who bagged both the Killarney and Midlands Nationals this summer, reported “the hill made a big difference to him and Simon said he was flat out going down to the second-last. We were thinking maybe another half-a-mile might suit him, but the hill just suited well. “He’s rated 117 over fences and won in the ‘110’ grade here last October but I don’t know if there is a 0-120 for him next month. There might be another hurdle in him too and he’s a home-bred so it’s great.” Quotes from Gary Carson
