Invictus World was a 5/1 winner of the MacNabb Waste Maiden Hurdle under experienced amateur Noel McParlan.

Trained in Co Antrim by Gerald Quinn and fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time, the five-year-old was up front from flagfall but was joined after the last by Cozone He pulled out a bit more in the closing satges to thwart that rival by a length-and-a-half, adding to a bumper win gained at Navan last year.

The 5/4 favourite Rule The Wind was tracking the leaders when falling five out.

McParlan said: "He was very good, he was tough and he had bumper form. The boys fancied coming here today, he was freshened up.

"He just wasn't maybe himself the last few runs over hurdles.

"It did (step up in trip paid to his strengths) and he jumped savage. He was tough when headed.

"He's not a bad horse on his day now."
