Placed on three of his last four starts, Invincible Will deservedly made the breakthrough in the Keadeen Hotel Nursery Handicap.

Sent off an 8/1 chance, the Gavin Cromwell-trained bay was settled in mid-division by Gary Carroll and was switched to the outer from halfway.

Ridden to challenge with over a furlong to go, he gamely edged his way to the front inside the final 100 yards and was a neck in front at the line.

Leading for much of the race, Sunrise Angel (22/1) ultimately had to settle for second, while the fast-finishing Sanctjude (4/1) was just half-a-length away in third.

Sent off joint-favourites at 7/2, Elly Bay (from 11/2 early) and Which Wolf Wins both underperformed and finished down the field.

"He's been banging on the door and deserved a win," Cromwell reflected.

"He's got a bit keen in his races and did a bit today, but Gary got him settled again. When he learns to do things right, I think he can improve again.

"He handles that ground but is versatile."
