Success Days, surprise winner of last Sunday's Ballysax Stakes, will be aimed at the Derrinstown Derby Trial and the Irish Derby if the ground permits.

Ken Condon's Jeremy colt was sent off the outsider of the three runners against former Derby favourite John F Kennedy but made all under a fine ride from Shane Foley, following up his win at Cork just eight days earlier.

While Condon feels there was no fluke to the victory, he does believe cut in the ground is essential to see him at his best.

"He's come out of the race super, he's in great form and has just been enjoying a quiet week," said Condon.

"He'll probably go to the Derrinstown Derby Trial next and I hope come Irish Derby time there is still enough cut in the ground to allow him to run.

"It can happen - look at the year Camelot won it (2012), it was bottomless.

"I don't think he has to have it, but he just handles it better than others. Because he goes so well on it I find it hard to believe he'd be as effective on fast ground.

"Even at two we felt he was a type who'd appreciate plenty of cut, but we were delighted with him on Sunday and if he keeps progressing who knows.

"He's up to 109 now so he'd only need to improve another 7lb to be right in the mix, and stepping up in trip could see him do that.

"The time was good compared to the maiden on the card, especially given they went 20 feet wide all the way looking for better ground.

"You can't really say we nicked it from the front as the other two jockeys were Pat Smullen and Ryan Moore. I know Pat and he said he just couldn't get on terms with our lad.

"Shane said he got a great feel off him and it augurs well for the future."
