Irish Horse Welfare Trust auction closing

The clock is ticking at the online auction to raise funds for the Irish Horse Welfare Trust, with a deadline of 5pm this evening for the first half of the 180 plus items on offer.

VIP racecourse packages both in Ireland and England are currently available below their face value at such tracks as Leopardstown, Market Rasen, Nottingham and Punchestown.

Johnny Murtagh has been revealed as the mystery racing personality to play golf with Ruby Walsh at Rathsallagh Golf Club in Dunlavin, and this should prove very popular with a current bid of ?475 on it.

Bids can be made at ihwt.ie/auction while the closing date for the remaining lots, which include a set of grey silks, a trip to Dubai and nominations to a number of stallions, is Monday March 30.

The IHWT operates a retraining and re-homing programme for 14 horses, and is seeking to raise 280,000 euro towards the cost of their base at Woodenbridge, Co. Wicklow.
