Two Irish jockeys have finished first and second in the world's longest horse race after competing in the Mongol Derby.

Donal Fahy took the honours in the 1,000km contest, leading home fellow jump jockey Richie Killoran.

The race takes places across Mongolia on semi wild horses and is a re-creation of the ancient network of horse-stations used by Genghis Khan for relaying messages across an empire.

Fahy has just recovered from bone graft surgery in his lower back and the pair were raising money for the Injured Jockey's Fund.
