Irish mares in Cheltenham raid

Eddie Hales sends out a very interesting newcomer at Cheltenham today when Aneyeforaneye contests the opening division of the Buy Your Winners At Brightwells Sales Mares' Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.

This four-year-old daughter of Definite Article will be ridden by Tony McCoy, who will sport the silks of Dungarvan, County Waterford vet, Walter Connors.

The Connors family have been breeding top horses for many years now, many carrying the 'approach' tag. Aneyeforaneye is out of the twice-raced mare, Resolute Approach.

She will today face Paul Nicholls' Valbuena (coming here off a 303 day break). This well-bred filly got tripped up on her debut at Worcester before winning nicely at Newton Abbot. Very green when victorious, she was expected to take high order among her own sex by Nicholls in a pre-season stable tour.

Line Freedom, meanwhile, won here last year for Nicky Henderson and Barry Geraghty. She looked very exciting that day but was virtually pulled up on the all-weather at Southwell in January. As a winner, she'll be conceding 13Ibs to Aneyeforaneye.

One should note that McCoy, who rode Bianco Fuji (5th on her debut behind geldings) now switches to Aneyeforaneye.

The other Irish runner at Cheltenham today is Gordon Elliott's Serpentaria. She runs in the Raceodds.com Mares' Handicap Hurdle and will be partnered in this seventeen strong field by Keith Donoghue. The teenager narrowly failed on I'm So Lucky in the Grade 2 Masterson Holdings Silver Trophy Handicap Chase (a Limited Handicap) for David Pipe yesterday.
