Tailed off in two maiden hurdles, Its Time For A Run showed improved form on his stable debut for Emmet Mullins, staying on in determined fashion to land the concluding Downpatrick Racecourse Family Funday Supporters INH Flat Race at Downpatrick.

Supported from 8/1 into 3/1, the John Kenny owned gelding looked in trouble over half-a-mile out when pushed along in mid division.

To his credit, the son of Crystal Ocean responded to pressure, moving second in chase of leader Payslip with three-furlongs to race.

Ridden to lead entering the straight, John Gleeson kept the five-year-old up to his job, staying on well to score by two-lengths.

John Gleeson said: "He had two runs over hurdles for Pat Doyle, and I'd say he was a bit weak. He strengthened up there now and it was a nice performance.

"I'd say he's still learning. He's a horse that will have no bother getting further again. He came off it (bridle) early, but I liked his attitude.

"It is a help (handled the ground) - it is good ground, but they have done a good job here. It is safe and good covering of grass on it which helps."
