Jackson gains further success Down Under The series is over, the trophy is coming back to Ireland. But the Irish jockeys didn't just party after Katie Walsh's victory at Moonee Valley on Saturday. Shane Jackson rode his winner at Bendigo last Thursday and the six-footer impressed plenty. On Sunday he was driven the 4 1/2 hours to Casterton, up near Mt Gambier, and rode 6/4 favourite One Sandwich Short to win the Oakland Hunt Club Rookie Chasers Series Steeple. That's their equivalent of a novice chase. The fences are all growing hedge-type jumps. Delighted trainer Ciaron Maher, who had a spell with Jim Dreaper a few years ago, said; "He was good wasn't he? We'll try to get him a seat on a plane back to Melbourne after that."
