Jackson gets among winners in Oz Shane Jackson became the third member of the Irish team to ride a winner in Australia when taking the Volunteer Rifles Australia vs Ireland Hurdle at Bendigo earlier today on odds-on favourite Consolidation. Jackson, 22, from Baltinglass, Co Wicklow, had ridden Consolidation the previous afternoon at Sandown, finishing last of four in a much better class race. After beating fellow team member Katie Walsh on Regal Punch by 10 lengths, Jackson said, "I learned a lot from the horse yesterday and was able to make more use of him today. It's just a great feeling to get a winner here." Leading on the last circuit, Jackson led home a 1?2 in the race for leading trainer Eric Musgrove, carrying the colours made famous by the stables' Karasi, three time winner of the Nakayama Grand Jump in Japan. Nina Carberry was unscathed after falling at the second last flight on Secret Rain, "He landed fine, just crossed his legs." The Irish team extended their points advantage and now lead 65 to 56 going into Saturday's Moonee Valley meeting and the A$60,000 Dominant Chase.
