James The Brave records third win this season James The Brave recorded a third win this season when justifying 9/4 favouritism in the Tomcoole Farm Novice Handicap Chase at Wexford. The six-year-old still held every chance when unseating Michael Kenneally two out at Limerick last time but the partnership stayed intact on this occasion. He was sent to the front before four out in this extended 2m3f event and the only slightly anxious moment came in the closing stages where Kenneally appeared to misjudge the winning post. He still held on by a diminishing half a length from Three In A Row with Duffys Hodey the same distance further back in third. Winning trainer Padraig Butler said, “Mike said he still had every chance the last day and in fairness to the horse he didn't fall, the ground just went from underneath him and it was bottomless heavy that day. "We are over the moon with him today and he got a brilliant ride from Mike. He is maturing this season an awful lot. He is a big babyish six-year-old. "We will see how he comes out of this before making a plan. He has a nice bit of racing done this season. He might have one more run but we'll have to see. "There is a novice handicap chase at Punchestown, but he is only rated 103 so he probably won't get in." Quotes by Donal Murphy
