Jamesie goes straight to Stewards' Cup David Marnane has decided to give Jamesie an extra week to prepare for the Qatar Stewards' Cup rather than run in the Gigaset International Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. The eight-year-old showed he was as good as ever when finishing second to Birchwood in a Listed race at Chester earlier this month. "We've decided to go direct to the Stewards' Cup," said Marnane. "The more I thought about it, he had a tough race at Chester in soft ground and I just wanted to give him an extra week to recover. "The handicapper has put him up another 5lb so come Goodwood he'll be 5lb well-in. "If the handicapper is right, he must have a great chance."
