Jamestown in cruise control at Dundalk Jamestown picked up compensation for a fruitless journey to Haydock last Saturday when hacking up in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden over seven furlongs at Dundalk. He was due to run in a good handicap at Haydock Park last weekend, but his race was abandoned when a hole was discovered after race one on the card. Thankfully for connections, he had this entry and he made the most of it. Luke McAteer was on board the 8/11 favourite and tracked Ribble Emperor in second. The favourite cruised into the lead in the final quarter of a mile and poured the pressure on in the final furlong to easily win by eight lengths. Nautic Star, who was backed from 9/2 to 11/4, kept on for second without landing a glove on the winner. Ribble Emperor was half a length further back in third at 20/1. David Marnane said: "We gave him a big chance in Haydock, I thought he had a big chance. The draw wasn't kind to him, but I still was looking forward to running him in Haydock. "We rate him very highly. "It wasn't ideal obviously going to Haydock, and coming home, and coming straight up here in this heat. It was a maiden and to be honest he needed a run at that stage anyway. He's done well today and we'll have a look. "He is (a premier handicapper going forward), he could be a Britannia horse depending on his rating. We'll see where he lands, there's a few (races). He's a nice horse anyway, there's plenty of nice races for him." Jamestown finished runner-up in his previous two starts including when pipped by a short head in a valuable handicap at Naas on his latest start.
