Jason Maguire Aims to be Back Soon

Jason Maguire could be back in action as early as next Friday having made smooth progress from a bad fall at Market Rasen last month.

The Irishman, stable jockey to Donald McCain, punctured a lung and suffered a break of his sternum, injuries which require a minimum of six weeks to repair.

Maguire said: "I will have to see how things go, but I hope to be back at Bangor on Friday week. I rode out last week and did not feel great afterwards so I took things easy but I rode out again on Monday and don't feel too bad."

He added: "I saw a doctor last Thursday and he told me it should be six weeks from the day of the fall for everything to heal properly.

"I went to Ireland for a while - I had to go by boat as I wasn't allowed to fly - but I am itching to be back."
