Gordon Elliott enjoyed a dream result when on his second start in the David Johnson colours Jessies Dream landed the Grade 1 Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase. The departure of the on terms Mikael D'Haguenet at the last will have people debating for quite some time on the possible outcome if that fellow had stayed standing.
Timmy Murphy gave Jessies Dream a great ride around the inner and he set the chestnut alight in the straight where many were still in with chances. Mikael D'Haguenet who travelled with real power throughout still hadn't been asked for maximum effort by Paul Townend and indeed he traded at 1/5 in-running on the betting exchanges before departing at the last. He appeared to jump the fence fine but his landing gear let him down.
Elliott said afterwards: "That's my first Grade 1 and it is great to do it with the owner's first horse in training in Ireland. He wants further and better ground and he might go to Kempton for the Feltham Chase at Christmas."
Elliott was completing a double after Toner D'Oudairies win in the first.
Meanwhile Willie Mullins said of Mikael D'Haguenet: "His inexperience came against him at the last where he just stumbled on landing after jumping well. Hopefully he'll learn from it and that it won't effect his confidence. That's novice chasing."
