Luscious proved too hot to handle for her rivals as she produced a fine front-running performance to land the fillies maiden at Naas, giving jockey Gary Carroll a double on tonight’s card.

The Ger Lyons-trained filly bounced out in front in the mile contest and was pressed throughout by 11/10 favourite Guarded

She was asked for an effort passing the two pole and the 3/1 winner started to pull clear in the closing stages for a comprehensive five length success over the market leader.

Luscious had been third on her return to action at Gowran Park last month.

Lyons said:- “She’s physically done marvellous, and Gary kept it simple and just rolled along. We hoped she’d win her maiden and she’s done it well.

“Physically she’s a different filly than last year and looking at her there now, she should never have ran at two.

“The two boys, John Brady and Brian Gleeson, will make a call as to whether she stays. I was asked to try and win a maiden and maybe she might have one more run.”
