Jockey O’Brien bounces back with Wexford winner Jockey Patrick O’Brien registered a timely success today following an unfortunate defeat yesterday at Roscommon, as the 5lb claimer landed Wexford’s Tote Handicap Chase on all-out winner Finnians Row (8/1). O’Brien, who bagged a high-profile Galway festival winner last Wednesday, incurred a 14-day suspension having prematurely eased down Gaelic Des Chastys yesterday, but today reversed that same short-head winning-margin, on Finnians Row. O’Brien moved Finians Row to lead at the last and held on well, from faster-finishing Birdsandthebees, whose rider dropped his whip on the run-in. Finians Row’s trainer Dermot McLoughlin reported "he ran well the last day here over two-miles and the step-up in trip helped today. They've done a great job again with watering and the slower ground seems to help him. “We will keep popping away with him and see what the handicapper does. He is an honest horse and kept galloping there. He is rated lower over hurdles, so we also have that option. "He is owned by two ladies (Anne McCartan and Frances Smyth) from Tyrone and they are not here today unfortunately." Quotes from Donal Murphy
