Jockeys' Championship heats up The Irish Jump Jockey Championship is set to heat up this week with jump racing taking place on each of the next six days. There are just 11 winners between leader Andrew McNamara and fifth placed Barry Geraghty currently. McNamara (52 winners) leads Paul Carberry by two with third placed Paul Townend on 48 winners and Davy Russell fourth, with 45 wins. Bookmakers, generally, make Carberry the 5/4 favourite to gain a third title with Russell best priced at 100/30, Townend best priced at 5/1 and McNamara generally available at 6/1. Eight times Champion Jockey Ruby Walsh is set to return to the saddle shortly but needs to make up for lost time and, on 30 winners, is best priced 7/1 to retain his title.
