The Jog For Jockeys fundraiser, in aid of the Irish Injured Jockeys' Fund, will take place on Sunday, August 23rd at the Curragh.

This will be the fifth anniversary of Jog For Jockeys and organisers are hoping it will be the biggest event so far.

Participants can run, jog or walk the 5k or 10k routes across the Curragh and up the home straight.

Audrey O'Dwyer, Organiser of Jog For Jockeys said: "Our riders risk injury every time they race. Racehorses gallop at speeds of 35 to 40mph and falls can happen at any time, on the flat or over obstacles.

"What other sportsperson has a minimum of two ambulances and a doctor travelling behind them each time they compete? By supporting the Jog For Jockeys, you are supporting the bravest men and women in sport."

Those wishing to participate can pre-register online now at www.jogforjockeys.ie.

Entry costs €20 or €25 on the day and a free Jog For Jockeys T-shirt is included. Children are free but can be registered to receive an official timing chip.

Teams of five can be entered for €100.

The 10k race begins at 11am with the 5k going to post at 11.20am.
