Trainer Donncha Duggan and jockey David Doyle completed doubles on the card, when teaming up successfully with market leader Johnny Rambo in the concluding Midlands National On 10th July (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Kilbeggan.

Second over hurdles on his racecourse debut at Clonmel earlier this month, the gelding was sent off 9/4f to go one better.

Always well positioned just off the pace, the four-year-old came through to lead entering the home straight.

Staying on well from over a furlong out, Johnny Rambo scored by two-and-a-half lengths.

“He’s a nice horse, I wasn’t expecting him to win quite so easy,” said Duggan.

“I’m not sure what we’re going to do now but I’d say he’ll probably get a bit further the way he galloped through the line there.

“He came home well (first time in Clonmel), Declan Queally fancied his as well even though a lot of the nice horses were put out of it. I’d say the winner is a good horse.

“It worked out fierce well, David gave him a great ride and did exactly what he was told.

“He’ll improve again, he’s still very green. He was never away from home, he was never at a schooling race as the ground was too hard and there were none one.

“The most horses he’s been with at home is four. Clonmel was a big introduction for him.

“I was in Limerick but I’m in Co. Cork now, only about two miles down the road.

“When I’m full I’d have about 18 or 20 but I have only 10 at the moment. The point-to-pointers will come back in July.

“If anyone wants to send me a horse I’ve no problems taking it.”
