Johnny Soda gains breakthrough success Johnny Soda (3/1f) gained a maiden success today, landing Cork’s Racing Again Sunday, May 10th Apprentice Handicap for trainer Ado McGuinness, jockey Sam Coen and the Go Nutz Racing Syndicate. The three-year-old gelding had previously finished third in a Curragh handicap last month and today was produced from rear to eventually score by a half-length from Harmani . McGuinness reported “he is a lovely horse who we bought in the breeze-ups last year and after finishing second in a Dundalk maiden last winter, Adam (Caffrey, jockey then) got off him and said not to run him back there again as he wants a little juice in the ground. “Even though he is by Cotai Glory, I’d say he is a 1m2f horse. Not many of his progeny end up jumping, but you could see this horse in that sphere as he is 16.2hh and is gorgeous big horse. He is massive and if you looked at him in the ring, you’d think he was a point-to-pointer. “I think there’ll be another big day on the Flat with him and he could end up in Galway.”
