Well-supported favourite Final Check continued the great run of Wesley Joyce when landing the first division of the Return Of Jumps October 10th & 11th Handicap.

Joyce, whose first winner since returning from serious injury came on Trueba at Cork a fortnight ago, has now partnered four more. Here, he tracked the leaders on the daughter of Expert Eye and began to get busy turning for home with his mount in fourth place.

Ridden to lead a furlong out, the 9/4 market leader (from 10/3 before the off) went away to beat Alfalfa by a length and a quarter. Owned by Anthony Rogers and Mrs Sonia Rogers, the winner had got off the mark at Killarney in July before finishing second at Leopardstown last month.

Winning trainer John O'Donoghue said: “He’s a good little rider. We always knew she has a little flat spot and I said ride her with loads of confidence as she will come good for you.

“She’s progressing and it’s her time of the year as I think she’ll appreciate the easy ground.”
