Jump jockey Murphy switches to flat Timmy Murphy is set to take out a licence to ride on the Flat. Murphy has been out of action since January 2014 when he suffered a dislocated shoulder for the second time in three months. However, the rider, who counts the victory of Comply Or Die in the 2008 Grand National amongst his career highlights, is now set to make a surprise return on the level having applied for his Flat jockeys' licence. His jumps agent Chris Broad said: "He's lighter than he's ever been and we thought it was the best route for him to go down at this time. "He's been riding out for Flat trainers."
