Junior In Top Trim After Eclipse Success

David Junior is reported to be firing on all cylinders after his terrific victory in the Coral-Eclipse.

Brian Meehan's four-year-old emphatically returned to winning ways with a one-and-a-half-length success in the Sandown feature on Saturday.

Having finished fourth behind Ouija Board in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, David Junior turned the formbook upside down in the hands of Jamie Spencer to leave connections dreaming of more Group One glory this season.

'He's in very good form and has come out of the race 100%,' said Eamonn Connolly, racing manager to Roldvale Ltd, David Junior's owners.

'It was an excellent performance and vindicated our opinion that he needed a more strongly-run race than he had at Ascot.

'He's a triple Group-One winner now so the show is back on the road.

'His plan was virtually mapped out from the beginning of the year. He's in the Juddmonte International at York, the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown and then with a view to going out to Kentucky for the Breeders' Cup.

'He's a pleasure to own and I'm sure for Brian, a pleasure to train.'
