Junior Ready To Eclipse Ouija

David Junior is set to cross swords again with supermare Ouija Board in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on Saturday week.

Brian Meehan's four-year-old finished fourth behind Ed Dunlop's stable star in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot last Wednesday and the pair could renew rivals at the Esher track.

David Junior was sent off the 11-8 favourite at Ascot and although Meehan was disappointed by his performance, the Manton handler believes the Pleasant Tap colt can set the record straight.

'David Junior will run in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown with Jamie Spencer riding,' confirmed Meehan.

'He is a course-and-distance winner and would not mind the ground as he goes on any surface.

'I was obviously very disappointed with him at Ascot but I am sure that he will show what a very good horse he really is in the Eclipse.'

David Junior won the Listed Gala Stakes at the track last term while cementing his place in the top flight with victories in last year's Champion Stakes at Newmarket and the Dubai Duty Free at Nad Al Sheba in March.

The sponsors make Meehan's charge 6-4 favourite, with Ouija Board next best on 2-1.
