Gavin Cromwell's Just Jacob supplemented his Cork victory in Sligo's Apex Controls Ltd Handicap Hurdle. Ballinlough Gale set out to make all over this extended 2m1f trip and certainly gave it a good go.

However, he couldn't repel Just Jacob who loomed large at the last and lead early on the run-in for Sean Flanagan.

From there, he strode in by two and a quarter lengths at 5/1. The runner-up's SP was 11/2 and he was three parts of a length in front of Mary Meehan (22/1).

Flanagan said: "He's a horse that was a little bit backwards over hurdles to begin with but he did it nicely enough in Cork.

"He took a little bit of time to pick up today having travelled well, but he's progressing now and you'd have to love a horse like him that's coming forward with racing."
