KING POISED FOR YORKSHIRE

Village King looks set to take his chance in the Pertemps Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster on Saturday.

The Philip Hobbs-trained gelding, an impressive winner at Cheltenham on his seasonal debut last month, is quoted as short as 5-1 for the #40,000 race with Coral but also holds an entry in the Ladbroke Trophy Chase at Cheltenham the same day.

A spokeswoman for Hobbs's Minehead yard said today: "Village King will probably go to Doncaster, he's almost 100 per cent certain to run there.

"We won't know anything for definite until Friday, we've got to see what the going is and what is running where."

Stablemate Dr Leunt, who finished third behind See More Business in the Pertemps King George VI Chase at Kempton last time, also has a choice of engagements this weekend.

The nine-year-old is entered in both the Ladbroke Trophy Chase and the Pillar Property Chase at Cheltenham.

"Dr Leunt will probably go to Cheltenham for the Pillar," the spokeswoman added.
