Katashuna stayed on stoutly in the closing stages to open her account in the first division of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Navan, for Dermot Weld.

Chris Hayes tracked front-runner Tea Rose on the Night Of Thunder filly and drove her to the front a furlong-and-a-half from home.

The 4/1 shot, carrying the colours of the late Aga Khan, galloped on well inside the final furlong to post a length-and-three-quarters win over Therewillbeglory

Weld said:” "She’s a fine, big mare and got an excellent ride from Chris Hayes. A lovely-striding big-mare and he utilised that ,and I have an old saying 'she attacked the hill'. Rolled away lovely.

"Nice performance and we will see how she comes out of the race and then we will go from there."
