Katie Walsh rides Vesper Bell Katie Walsh will step in for the ride on Vesper Bell in today's Grand National at Aintree. Mikey Fogarty, who was due to ride the gelding, fractured two vertebrae in his back after a fall in the Topham Chase yesterday. Walsh recorded the best finish for a female rider in the famous race when partnering Seabass into third in the 2012 renewal. She told Channel 4's The Morning Line: "I'm looking forward to it, it's great to be part of it. "He's run well around Punchestown a couple of times, he's a big, scopey horse who stays well and I'm looking forward to the ride."
