Kauto out to star at Clonmel The Surehaul Mercedes Benz Novice Hurdle at Clonmel is the intended next port of call of Kauto Grand Mogol. Liz Doyle's seven-year-old is a half-brother to the legendary Kauto Star so has plenty to do to keep his family's reputation intact. An easy winner on his hurdling debut, he was upped in class at Navan on his second start, when well beaten. However, a confidence-boosting 32-length success at Thurles last time out got his career trajectory going in the right direction once more. Kauto Grand Mogol will now step back up in grade next Thursday for the Grade Three over two miles and six furlongs. "He'll run at Clonmel," said Doyle. "He'll likely have entries in all three novice races at Cheltenham and we'll make a decision which one after his next race. "I think we can put a line through his run at Navan as he was much better at Thurles next time so he obviously wasn't at his best there."
