Kazeem on for Camelot clash Roger Charlton is considering pitching Al Kazeem against dual Derby winner Camelot following his charge's triumphant comeback at Sandown on Saturday. The Beckhampton trainer has four weeks to prepare Al Kazeem for the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh, in which he could take on Aidan O'Brien's Classic hero, after the five-year-old came back from almost a year's absence to take the Group Three Gordon Richards Stakes by a length from Thomas Chippendale. "It was a great relief to see Al Kazeem returning to the winner's enclosure having not run for 12 months," the handler told www.rogercharlton.com. "I was delighted with the way that he behaved and looked in the preliminaries and he showed a good turn of foot to win without having a hard time. "The race will have sharpened him up and we now have four weeks before the possibility of going for his first Group One race in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on Sunday, May 26, where there is a chance that he will meet Camelot. "I am pleased to report that he trotted up well this morning and he lost six kilos during the race, so hopefully onwards and upwards!"
