Keane at double on Jorge Alvares Colin Keane doubled up at Dundalk aboard even-money-favourite Jorge Alvares who made full use of first-time blinkers in the median auction maiden. Ger Lyons' charge finished third over almost a mile in Bellewstown last weekend and a drop to six furlongs did the trick. He soon led, but was challenged by Temperance a furlong and a-half down. The leader really knuckled down to his task, though, and powered home by two lengths from the 15/8 runner-up. Assistant trainer Shane Lyons said: "It was great and the blinkers have worked wonders for him there. They have made him concentrate, but he was very genuine there. "Got a lovely break and Colin said his mind was on the game there the whole way around the bend. "The last day he was just a little bit fresh. "It was a good shout by everybody when that race presented itself straight after last week to drop him back down (in trip) and go for it. "Hopefully, the owners (Gaelic Thoroughbreds) will have a bit of fun with him for the foreseeable future in the summer. "He battled. Blinkers can be used for different reasons but they made him concentrate on his job. He'll have them forever more because of that. "Six or seven (furlongs) around a bend."
