Colin Keane was seen at his best when getting Elana Osario up in a thrilling finish to the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap, the feature on day two of the July Festival meeting at Killarney.

Annie’s Angel made a determined effort from the front in this extended 1m3f event and still held the edge at the furlong pole.

However, Elano Osario was responding to Keane’s urgings and kept on gamely to stick her head in front at the line.

A head was the official margin, while Shaool also kept on well under pressure on the far rail just a neck further back in third.

Winning trainer Paddy Twomey said, “She is a nice filly, is one we have waited a long time for and is an improving filly who is physically getting stronger.

"She gave 20lb to the runner-up the last day and I told Robert (Moran, owner) that today would be her last handicap as he keeps giving out to me about her carrying 10st! I told him when I put that much weight on them in handicaps that it means they are pretty good.

"I'm delighted she won, and she got a fantastic ride. Robert is from Florida, but his holiday home is in Glandore and he loves down here. He bred Red Hugh O'Donnell who won the second race today, and he gives them great names."

Keane was completing a double having also been on the mark earlier aboard Spanish Temptress
