Keane gets one back on Candleford Green Sea The Stars filly Candleford Green fended off Therewillbeglory by a head at the end of an extended nine-furlongs in the fillies' maiden at Gowran Park. The 5/4 shot picked up the lead after a couple of furlongs and made the rest of the running for Colin Keane. She was pressed by 28/1 outsider Rocket Robyn as the race unfolded over a furlong and a-half out and the latter closed up inside the final furlong. It was nip and tuck all the way home, but Candleford Green maintained a narrow advantage to the line. Metamorhic (7/1) took third, some two and three-quarter lengths off the runner-up. Willie Mullins said: “She was second on her only run last year (in Leopardstown), but maybe it turned out to be not quite as good as we thought it looked at the time. “We’re very happy to win her maiden and I’ll have a word with Barnane Stud (owners) to see if that’s her finished or whether we continue on the all-weather or next season.” Reigning champion Keane, who is attempting to chase down jockey's title race leader Dylan Browne McMonagle, cancelled out the latter's winner in the opener on the card. Therefore, the gap remains at seven. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
