Gringo D’aubrelle (6/1) landed Navan’s Listed €100,000 Bective Stud, Tea Rooms & Apartments Handicap Hurdle for the race sponsors today, when providing 7lb claimer Michael Kenneally with a first win for trainer Gordon Elliott.

Wearing the colours of Noel and Valerie Moran’s Bective Stud on his third ride for Elliott, Kenneally improved nine-year-old Gringo D’aubrelle from mid-division to lead before the last, when scoring by seven lengths from Koori Star .

Elliott, who was completing a double, said "If you go back to his novice days, he had good form and it was a good performance today, so I’m absolutely delighted with that. He's a real three-miler, he looked to be going as quick as he could but stays very well.

"He was racing from (4lb) out of the handicap so we claimed off him for that reason. Michael rides out a morning-a-week with us so from a light weight, it was a no-brainer to use him.

"We'll talk to Noel and Valerie and see about plans, but it was a great pot to win. That will pay for him for the year now."
