It's another Cork v Kerry clash as Conor King in the red corner and Jack Kennedy for the green and gold, battle it out for the Irish Field National Riders Championship on the horse and pony racing circuit.

Kennedy's father, Billy said: "Jack (13-year-old) is one behind Conor at the moment. He had five winners that counted last weekend. That racing was in Glenbeigh. He had six winners there but one of those was a local race and it doesn't count for the championship.

"He had three winners at Ballyglunin in Galway on the day before race week. He had four the day before that in Broadford.

"Jack started first when he was nine – that was just a local race.

"We got him a pony then, Pair Of Jacks, and he started with him. We have two of our own.

"At the moment he is riding a lot for Jerry and Aileen Daly. He also rides for David Granville and Gary Boyle.

"They are all in the south. He rides for Pat and Sharon Lordan as well. All of those people are very very good to him. He wouldn't be where he is without them.

"He is going up North this weekend and he has one ride booked at the moment. I think that meeting is somewhere in Tyrone.

"That'll be his first ride in the North. He has just one at the moment – in the 15 hands.

"The season finishes at the end of September. There are four meetings left down here now. He'll be in Tyrone on Saturday and he'll be back down in Caherciveen in Kerry on Sunday.

"Paddy (Jack's professional jockey older brother) is with Jessica Harrington. He is tipping away.

"If Jack was allowed leave school in the morning he'd be gone. Hopefully he'll be able to make a career out of it. As I always say as long as he stays sound and comes home with us every day in the lorry I don't care what happens." (EM)
