Jack Kennedy was a notable booking for Hardwired in the Kilberry Handicap Chase at Navan and he brought up his Navan double on the eight-year-old gelding. De Lady In Red was still going nicely at the hear of affairs two out, but she put in an extra stride and capsized.

That left Dutch Schultz and Hardwired to tussle for honours and the latter was very stout as he was driven up close home to score by three-parts of a length at 15/2. Dutch Schultz was returned 3/1jf and was 22 lengths clear of Mighty Oak Lad (12/1) in a remote third.

Ted Walsh said: “He stayed at it well. He looked beat going to the last, but kept at it well.

“He's won over 2m6f and three miles, and he saw it out well.

"From being a frustrating horse he's now won four. He had a good pilot on board.”

Kennedy also took the opener on Rainbow Trail (8/15f).
