Kensington Lane lands Gowran's opener Kensington Lane (9/4) put her prior experience to good use in winning Gowran’s opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden today, scoring for owner Annemarie O’Brien, her son trainer Donnacha O’Brien and jockey Gavin Ryan. Having her fifth start, the 83-rated daughter of Starspangledbanner made much of the pace throughout today’s race and while headed by Luna Mia entering the home straight, rallied to lead again a furlong out, before scoring readily by five lengths. Jockey Ryan reported “she’s been improving away slowly and I suppose her first run was a bit of a write off, as she was very green. Then she went to Down Royal, she had a good look when she got there and was just collared by a horse of Joseph (O’Brien’s) that has won twice since. “Her form is rock solid and was entitled to do that. I was able to use her experience on a track that it does count and quickened up smartly. There is a bit more improvement in her. “I think with racing she’s obviously going to get a little bit further but she’s not shy of speed all the same. She’s a high cruiser and can quicken off it so she’s versatile.” Quotes from Gary Carson
