Kerry National on Openide's Agenda

Trainer Brendan Duke is planning yet another Irish raid with his best jumper Openide, who will shortly have a prep run for a return visit to the Kerry National at Listowel next month.

Duke has sent his seven-year-old across the water a number of times already and been rewarded with a Grade Three prize at Tipperary, as well as finishing fifth in this valuable event a year ago.

He was also second in last season's Kim Muir Chase at the Cheltenham Festival but has not run since disappointing in a hurdle at Stratford in May.

"Openide is doing really well and I am planning to run him in the Kerry National in three weeks' time," said Duke.

"He is likely to go to Lingfield next week for a run on the all-weather to get him ready."

Duke also had an update on Sammy The Snake, who won his only start as a two-year-old but was prevented from taking up Group One entries this year because of injury.

"We will not get him back until about New Year's Day but he's been having X-rays and at this stage the results look good," he explained.
