Key Irish Contenders For Saturday's UK Races The Irish Oaks hasn't attracted a single British-based contender to the Curragh on Saturday afternoon but there will be some hopefuls going the other way across the Irish Sea in pursuit of prize money. We are taking a look at the Irish runners headed for the UK on Saturday, while Market Rasen has a trio of Irish hopefuls in their big summer jumps event. The first is the progressive Cloughroe in this 2m5f Class 4 handicap chase. A maiden over hurdles, the seven-year-old has found his feet this season over fences. He appeared in need of the comeback run at Kilbeggan in April but then posted runner-up finishes at Killarney (2m4½f, yielding) and Limerick (2m6½f, good) in May before breaking his duck at this track last month in a C&D novices handicap chase. He was lumping weight to the pair behind him that afternoon and despite a 6lb rise, he has Jack Gilligan claiming 5lb now and looks to hold leading claims again. Mr Mcwhinny - MB Digital Handicap Chase (16:35 Cartmel) Gilligan's second runner on the card doesn't obviously hold such strong claims. He's a 15-race maiden — 11 of those over hurdles — and has unseated and fallen in two recent starts at Kilbeggan and Tipperary since switching to this discipline. A clear round would be a good starting point for the Soldier of Fortune gelding in what is not a strong race on paper. Ballysax Hank, Mr Saxobeat & Ceanndana - Unibet Summer Plate Handicap Chase (15:12 Market Rasen) A trio of Irish raiders in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen as Ballysax Hank, Mr Saxobeat & Ceanndana represent Gavin Cromwell, Thomas Gibney and Ross O'Sullivan respectively in the Premier Handicap over 2m5½f. Mr Saxobeat (3lb) and Ceanndana (5lb) find themselves racing from out of the handicap but both ran well last time when making the frame at Wexford and Tipperary respectively. Ballysax Hank is lightly-raced and the youngest of the trio at six years old. He won a beginners' race at Downpatrick in March and warmed up for this test with a hurdles spin at Bellewstown this month. The booking of Harry Cobden — winner of this race in the last two years for Iain Jardine and Ollie Murphy — is eye-catching as Cromwell targets another successful UK raid. Born Bright - Unibet Daily Industry Best Prices Handicap Chase (17:00 Market Rasen) Completing the Irish interest in the UK will be Born Bright for the Claire O'Connell team later on the afternoon at Market Rasen. The Monasterevin-based handler recently trained her first UK winner at Ayr and she's aiming to double up now with this Kalanisi mare. Born Bright has just four starts over fences and she scored at Tipperary (2m7f, yielding) earlier this month off a 7lb lower mark. Rider James Smith offsets some of the rise and connections will be hoping for another strong showing as they head for the Lincolnshire venue and Market Rasen's premier summer afternoon.
