Killarney 'expects bumper crowds' Officials at Killarney are preparing for what they believe could be their best-ever four-day July Festival next week. The meeting at the picturesque Kerry venue, featuring racing under both codes, takes place from Monday through to Thursday with a prize fund of over €260,000 for the 28 races. "We're extremely busy and we're booked out for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in our hospitality," said sales and marketing manager Brid Lucey. "We are expecting bumper crowds of up to 20,000 throughout the Festival. "There's mixed racing so there's something for everyone. We've two courses, a Flat and a chase course. "The courses are in good condition at the moment. The going is good, good to firm and we are watering. "The weather forecast is quite good for next week, so fingers crossed it's going to be our biggest Festival yet. "Crowds have been growing every year and our Ladies' Day (on the Thursday) is one of the top ones in the calendar."
