Killarney possible for Akira Trainer Shay Barry is eyeing a Listed race at Killarney's July Festival for Akira's belated seasonal reappearance. The five-year-old ran some fine races in defeat in Stakes company last season, most notably pushing the talented Brooch close at Killarney last August. She has not been seen so far this year after suffering an early-season setback, but is closing in on an imminent return. Barry said: "We've entered her for the Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse this weekend, but it's only 50-50 and I'd say we might wait for a Listed race in Killarney on July 15. "We had her back in (work) early enough, but she then got a haemotoma, which meant she missed three or four weeks. "Then the ground got a bit quick for her, but I'm happy with her now and she's nearly ready to start back. "She's a good filly, her form is good from the end of last season and I think she's progressed plenty through the winter. "Hopefully we can get her head in front (in a Stakes race) this year."
