King draws high praise after Martin lands feature Tony Martin was effusive in his praise of jockey Daniel King after he steered Putapoundinthejar home in the featured Street Sweep Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown. The 4/1 favourite made headway travelling well two out and disputed the lead at the last where a sizeable number of horses held chances. Daniel King conjured a good jump from him and the pair led inside the final furlong to see it out best by half a length from Autumn Twist (17/2). Red Glory was the same distance away in third at 28/1 while Thisistheway completed the placings at 10/1. Martin said: "He's not an easy horse, but your man (King) is just an excellent rider - what a rider! "I shouldn't be saying it, but you'd love to see him in one of the top yards, but then he wouldn't be able to ride for me! He's on a par with Jack Kennedy and those boys. I haven't seen anything as good since the likes of (Ruby) Walsh. "It is local and when you see a nice race like that, 60 grand, you kind of put him (Putapoundinthejar) by a month or two in advance." When owner Ray Grehan was asked if he will roll onto Galway, he replied: "That was the thinking." If Putapoundinthejar is entered in the Galway Hurdle, any entry, forfeit or declaration fees will be refunded as a result of winning this race.
